(Review & Swatch) Studio Tropik Micellar Rosewater X They Talk About Matte Lipquid

Last Thursday, I got invited to Studio Tropik X They Talk About Event: #ToneItDown. This event was held to introduce new products from Studio Tropik & They Talk About: Micellar Rosewater from Studio Tropik and DUA Collection, a two new shades of Matte Lipquid from They Talk About.

The event was held at Ruci's Joint, Senopati. It was a full-house despite of the non-stop rain and flooding in some area in Jakarta that day 😅 Michelle from @michimomo was the emcee and there were Agnes Oryza and Female Daily video editor-slash-MUA Gyanda Agtyani as star guests.

Studio Tropik launched their second product: a micellar water with rose-extract a.k.a Micellar Rosewater. I've always admire Studio Tropik. In the times when majority of local beauty brands launched matte liquid lipsticks, they're the first indie local brand that launched Priming Water (read my review here). Now, they're also the first local indie brand that has micellar water! Kudos to Melissa as Studio Tropik's CEO for creating such innovative products 💖

They Talk About also launched a new collection called DUA. It consists of two new shades from their Matte Lipquid collection: Hazel (peachy-coral nude) and Rust (warm mauve-pink). Aptly called the "Modern Nudes", I must agree that the nude shades look different compared to most of existing nude lip colors from majority of local beauty brands. 

#ToneItDown concept itself encourage us to embrace our natural beauty and to celebrate simple, fuss-free beauty rituals by using the less-is-more concept, hence the Studio Tropik's micellar water (all-in-one, easy cleanser) and the modern nude shades Matte Lipquids by They Talk About.

During the talkshow, Gyanda showed how the Matte Lipquid can be worn as lip color as well as blush on Agnes Oryza. She first removed Agnes' makeup with the Micellar Rosewater and it looks like the Micellar Rosewater is really effective in removing her makeup! She proceeds with applying the Matte Lipquid by mixing shade Hazel & Rust together on Agnes' lips and cheeks.

I think They Talk About's new shades are really well-thought of. The shades really look pretty as lip colors and blush! I especially like how they look like as blush, they just look so natural and gives a healthy color on cheeks and lips. Gyanda also explains how the formula is meant to be buildable, so it won't look too pigmented as blush. 

Now let's move onto my review for these two products! I was given the Micellar Rosewater and Matte Lipquid in shade Rust in the goodie bag. We can choose which shade we want for the Matte Lipquid, and I choose Rust since Hazel looks a bit too-brownish for my liking.

Studio Tropik Micellar Rosewater

The first thing that caught my attention about this Micellar Water is the packaging! It's dominated with lovely pinky-peach and white color, and the bottle is so unique; it has pump like nail polish-remover bottle. With this pump, you just need to press a cotton pad onto it and the amount of product that comes out is just perfect. No more wasted product because we over-pour the bottle! I normally only need two pumps to remove all eye makeup on both of my eyes (eyeshadow, liner, mascara, brow).

This micellar water is free from oil, alcohol, and fragrance. It's enriched with rose extract and sodium PCA, a natural moisturizing property. It claims to clean your face gently while helping to soothe and calm your skin.

Even though it's said to be fragrance free, I can smell a very subtle rose scent, it's pretty similar to their Priming Waters but even more gentler. I find that scent is actually very relaxing hehe. As for the cleaning ability, I am very impressed with it! I normally use Garnier micellar water but it can't remove all of my eye makeup, while this Studio Tropik micellar water cleans ALL of my eye makeup with one swipe!

Just gently press a soaked cotton pad on the eye, wait for 5 seconds, swipe, and voila, my eye is clean 😍 No oily feeling afterwards some more! Love love love 😍😍😍 Here's a video of how I easily remove my eye makeup using this baby:

This Micellar Rosewater is priced at Rp119,000/200ml bottle, a fair price for such a great product. You can purchase it from Studio Tropik's website.

They Talk About Matte Lipquid in shade Rust

Now this is the first time for me to try They Talk About Matte Lipquid. Like the Studio Tropik Micellar Rosewater, the packaging for this Matte Lipquid is also stunning! Look at the color gradation on the box, so lovely 😍 The tube also feels sturdy and the cap comes in gorgeous copper color.

The formula is quite sheer but definitely buildable. As mentioned before, it's meant to be sheer so it can be used as cheek color as well. The formula takes a while to set, leaving you enough time to blend the lip cream. Here's how the shade Rust looks like on my hand:

The applicator for this lip cream is a flat doe-foot. I don't find any problem with the applicator, it can be easily used on lips and I can just dot some of the cream on my cheeks directly using the applicator.

It's non-drying, even though this is the type of lip cream that accentuates your lip lines. The longevity is also pretty standard for a matte lip cream: 4-6 hours without eating. This lip cream can withstand some light eating, but definitely need some touch up after eating greasy food.

Here's how Rust looks like on my lips and cheeks. I definitely like this more as blush rather than lip cream hehe. Super love the healthy tone Rust gives to my complexion 💖

Like the other shades in their Matte Lipquid range, Rust and Hazel each retails for IDR160,000, it's a bit overpriced in my opinion, but some of their shades are really unique so if you like their shades I guess it's worth the money.
