"13 Reasons Why" Makes Me Feel Depressed

Have you guys watched 13 Reasons Why? I have just finished all 13 episodes plus the commentary episode yesterday. It blew my mind, and not in a good way. It's not that the show is bad, it's just so depressing to watch. What makes it even more depressing is, how awfully real it feels towards real life.

Some people say high schools are the best time in their life. Some say it's their worst. But for Hannah Baker, the main protagonist in this show, it's beyond her worst nightmare.

I feel so depressed watching this, because Hannah's helplessness is excruciating to watch. Watching every aspect in her life fell through: family, friends, love, school; which ultimately leads her to end her own life. It's painful to watch. It's like, everything that could go wrong in her life, went wrong. And all happened at once or one thing after another.

It's like, if only one person in those 13 tapes did anything differently in a good way, Hannah wouldn't take her own life. If only one person showed her even a simple act of kindness, to show her that someone in this world still care and would listen, it would changed her decision to not kill herself.
Painted my nails blue like Hannah :p
[SPOILER AHEAD]

Yes, Hannah could've done better to fix her situation. She could try harder to talk to Mr Porter. Or, she could reach out to Clay and explain why she asked him to leave in the party. But then again, after having so many toxic encounters with people, it's understandable how she perhaps already lose faith in people around her. It's even possible that after all of that bullying, she got PTSD.

I think this show brings a very important message towards all of us: teach your kids to be kind to others. During high school time especially, when these teens are still learning about themselves. Teach them to be kind, because it's very easy to fall into peer pressure that most of the time spreads negative message. Bullying is not cool. As quoted from Mean Girls,
"Calling someone fat won't make you any skinner. Calling someone ugly won't make you any prettier. And calling someone stupid doesn't make you any smarter. Ruining someone's life won't make yours any better. The only thing that you can do in life is solve the problem that's in front of you."
Kudos to Netflix for making this great show.  It doesn't shy away from real issues that's uncomfortable to be talked about, but it's happening right now in this world. Suicide happens. Bullying happens. Rape happens. The scene where Jessica & Hannah got raped is especially painful to watch. The scene where Hannah ends her own life brings tears to my eyes. It's just so....painful to watch.

I really recommend you guys to watch this Netflix series, it will make you think deeper. Not to mention, the soundtrack ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ I super love the soundtrack! (Remember when "A 1000 Times" played when Clay & Hannah kissed? Perfection๐Ÿ’–) If you love The Perks Of Being A Wallflower soundtrack, you'll love this too ;)

Thanks for reading, Loves, talk to you soon ๐Ÿ˜˜
