(Review) The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2%

The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2%
Hi guys, here's my individual review for The Ordinary serums that I wrote about in my previous post about The Ordinary as a brand. You can read more about The Ordinary with their missions there.

In this post, I will talk about the Advanced Retinoid serum. In The Ordinary website, they describe this as "A Stable Emulsion of Next-Generation Forms of Retinoid"

Taken from The Ordinary website
I use this serum because Retinoid is a common treatment to help clear blemishes and wrinkles. As quoted from LiveStrong:
"Derived from vitamin A, retinol is a topical skin treatment which helps to remove wrinkles, make the skin more supple and clear up blemishes."
As a mid-twenties (I can't believe I just said it 😐), I think it's time to start using anti-aging products? Better starts early than regretting it later, right? Lol. Since I am already having problem with blemishes, I think it's just the right time for me to try this Retinol treatment.

The Advanced Retinoid comes in amber-coloured dropper bottle, with 30ml capacity. Retinol is UV ray-sensitive, hence why it's stored in amber-coloured bottle. It is also advised that you only use this in your PM routine and don't forget to use sun protection in your AM routine, since this product has tendencies to make your skin become more sensitive to UV rays.

It is said that Retinol also has tendencies to peel your face, however it's not the case with me.
Texture
The texture of this product is milky with yellow colour. I use 2-3 drops of this during my PM skincare routine, before applying eye cream & spot treatment. This serum spreads easily on my face, and it feels lightweight and not oily.

After 2 months incorporating these 4 serums (Niacinamide, Arbutin, Retinoid, & Buffet), I feel my skin becomes bouncier, pores become smaller, acne scars slightly fading, and I almost never get cystic pimples. I occasionally have new active zits, but they're the small kind with white heads, which normally will just disappear in 1-3 days.

I've been using this serum for almost 3 months now, and the 30ml bottle is still half full. It is very affordable too, I purchased mine from Benscrub for IDR269,000.

To conclude, I really recommend this skincare line! I will definitely repurchase once it runs out (which probably will still be in quite some time!)

Thanks for reading, Loves, talk to you soon 😘

  1. Hello,

I am by no means a dermatologist or a licensed skin-specialist, but from my research on Google lots of article states that Retinol can works as anti-aging because it encourages our skin to peel and reveal younger skin cells :)

Hope that helps and thanks for dropping by!
