My Favorite Lipstick: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream!

Hiya people! I've been wanting to share my favorite lipstick ever: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream!

Before, I usually only use lip tint as lip color, because I like how it makes my lips look naturally pink and healthy. However, if I want to get a more vivid color, I still need to apply lipstick on top of it. The problem with lipstick is, I need brush applicator to apply it neatly, and it's so troublesome to bring along the lip applicator in my bag. I don't have travel size applicator, btw.

For the record, I always use matte lipstick every now and then. Since my lips is already thick, it makes me looks like I just ate fried food if I use glossy lipstick -__- So oily! Damn ugly hahaha xP

As for the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, I've been using it several times, and I love it so much! There is no downside at all for this product, in my humble opinion :)

NYX said that this lippie is "neither lipstick or lip-gloss", and I totally agree with that. The tube looks like lipgloss, with a brush applicator attached on the tube cap. It is a matte lip cream, and the consistency of the lip cream is like, well, cream-like! It's very easy to use, and it smells like vanilla cake <3 Here's the official NYX page for this product.

In total, the Soft Matte Lip Cream has 13 colors, ranging from nude color to bright pink. For me, I have this product in two shades.

Pink and red

Look At My Pretty Nails: Golf Nails!

Whee! New nail!

For this nail design, I get the inspiration from this Kate Spade handbag. It's so cute and quirky! I want it so bad sob sob, but it's out of my budget and I think now it is already sold out :(

Anyway, here's what I came up with for the nail design...

50s Style Bangs ala Bettie Page

Hello! Lately, I've been looking on how to make 50s pinup girl hairstyle, especially Bettie Page's curly bangs. As you may already know, I love playing dress up with vintage style, and one of my favorite eras is the 50s! However, I'm not really good with vintage hairstyles, and I always mess my hair up in the end @__@

Betty Page's bangs, in the other hand, is simple yet cute and so easy to do! For me, since I already have bangs, I just need to roll it downside using the traditional hair roll. For long hair without bangs, I searched for tutorials on Youtube on how to create the rolled up/curly bangs, and found several videos. I found that this tutorial from JessiBombshell is one of the simplest one to follow :)

Okie, so here's how I curl my bangs!

Look At My Pretty Nails: Balinese Frangipani Nails

Hello! I finally did my graduation photo shoot with my family last Sunday! It's a tradition in Indonesia for Bachelor's Degree graduate to have a proper photo studio shoot wearing the graduation robe and kebaya (if you're a girl, of course!) with your family.

I'm so excited because this is my first time wearing kebaya. It's a traditional clothing from Indonesia btw. This is how the kebaya looks like during my fitting. It's slightly too big, but the tailor will take care of it :)

Pretty in pink!

Vacation to Puncak

Hi hi! As I mentioned before, I went to Puncak during Hari Raya last week. I went there along with my family, as well as my auntie's family from Surabaya.

A little background about my auntie's family: when her first son was born, due to the Chinese belief, her parents-in-law said that the chinese zodiac of her son and my auntie crashed, therefore she needs to find new "parents" for her son. My auntie asked my parents to "guipang" her son, it's kind of like becoming godparents for her son, but he calls my parents mama and papa as well.

After that, my auntie had her second child, and this time the chinese zodiac crashed again -__-" But she asked another relatives from her husband's side to guipang their daughter. However, we think it's very confusing if her brother calls my parents mama and papa but she calls my parents auntie and uncle --" So now, both of my auntie's children call my parents mama and papa as well! I know this sounds so confusing, but Chinese beliefs are actually very confusing as well @_@

Anyway, both kids are very close to my family, even though they live in Surabaya and we live in Jakarta, and we only see each other once or twice a year. They both call my sister and I jiejie too :D

Here's their picture with me and my sist hehehe. Our lil' bro name is Fulgen and our meimei's name is Eugene <3 The two angels in my life!

Look At My Pretty Nails: Pastel Leopard

Hello! New nail post yay!

After spending the last week by going to Puncak with my family (will blog about that soon), finally got time to blog about this kawaii design :D

I was in Sanrio shop and saw this adorable My Melody soft toy. Instead of the regular pink ears/hoodie, she wears pastel leopard print ears!

Pastel leopard!
Sorry for the ugly photo, I took it secretly since there is a no camera policy in the shop sob sob. Anyway, you can see that actually some of the "leopard" prints are in flower shape! SO ADORBS OMG.

You can see the clearer picture of the My Melody in here from Bong Qiuqiu's blog.

Anyway, here's what I came up with for the nail design...

Thanks for being my eyes in these past two years, glassie!

Look At My Pretty Nails: BELLO! MINIONS NAILS!

Bello everyone! (Bello= Hello in Minions language, see it here xP)

So, I've been seeing so many minions nails on Facebook and Instagram. Some are DIY, while others are from nail art salons. Also, there are quite a few tutorials on how to paint these little yellow guys on your nails, and one of them is from The Little Canvas

I followed her easy-to-follow tutorial, and here's what I came up with...

Bello bello!

Look At My Pretty Nails: Summery Picnic Patterns

Hi hi! I've been wanting to make nails that are inspired by summer picnic. I'm thinking of checkered picnic mat and field of daisies, with bright and summery colors. This is what I came up with in the end...

Summery colors <3

Lasik Preparation!

Hiya! Yeah, I'm planning to do lasik yay! Like, finally hehehe x)

I've been wearing glasses since primary 4, so I was around...10 year old? Woah, I've been wearing glasses for 11 years so far! Anyway, both my eyes have myopia and astigmatism , even though the myopia is only 2.5 and the astigmatism is only 0.5. Still, I need to wear glasses.

I remember the first time I wore glasses, I hate it to the max ew. Some more, at that time I was also still wearing braces, have frizzy hair, and I was obesed xP Oh, I also haven't do eye surgery to fix my Strabismus (cross-eye) eyes. I think that's enough description to imagine how fugly I was, right! Anyway, here's a picture of me 5 years ago...

From the era when photo-filter haven't been invented, circa 2008.
Yeah. I know right. Fugly to the max lol. Look at my gigantic arms hahaha! Thank God for whoever invented pretty photo-filters and liquifying photo apps. Anyway, that's 5 years ago, and here I am now.....

5 years later...
Straight hairs, straight eyes, (temporarily) without glasses, with make up and 14 kg lighter hahaha! Thanks to puberty! That one was taken during my Graduation Book photo shoot.

Taken yesterday at the Opthalmology Clinic
Close-up photo of the 2013 version of Chikka xP Not saying that I'm pretty now, I think anyone will look pretty with filters and liquify effect anyway. But I think I'm much more decent-looking now compared to 5 years ago! #narcissism

Back to the lasik thingy, ever since I know about this procedure, I've been wanting to do it. However, to do this, I have to be at least 20 year old to make sure my eyes are already stabile. Last year I was still busy with school, so I didn't really have time to do it, and my ophthalmologist suggested that I wait until I'm 21 year old before proceeding with the surgery.

So yeah, I went to see my ophthalmologist (who also did my Strabismus surgery) to consult for the lasik thing. He said based on my eyes' minus and plus, it should be okay to do it. However, before he can do the surgery, I still need to do several tests like retina thickness test, the tears level, etc..

In total I did seven tests today, basically spent my entire morning at the clinic, getting my eyes poked and tested. The tests are mostly okay and not painful, however there are two tests that scare me to death.

One of the test is the retina thickness test, if I'm not wrong. The nurse pokes my eyeballs, literally, with this thin clear stick. Before she did that, she put eyedrops into my eyes to make the eyeballs numb. Then she poked my eyeballs several times for each eye -___-

She was really nice, actually. She's very patient with me who kept moving on the chair like a fish out-of-water xP But I was so scared she will accidentally poke my eyeballs too hard and I will go blind for the rest of my life :| I guess I watched too much Final Destination, when there is this girl who wants to do lasik, but the laser cut her eyeballs into two instead omg. (See the screen shot here, warning: it's gory image.)

When she poked my eyes, it was not painful, but I keep feeling scared because I can feel the stick poking my eyes. Trust me, it's not a good feeling at all. After that, she gave me anti-infection eyedrops to prevent any infection since my eyeballs were touched by outside article.

The next test that I find annoying is the tear level test. The nurse put a piece of paper at my bottom eyelids and I need to close my eyes for 5 minutes. This test is not scary like the previous one, however it's pretty uncomfortable since I can feel the papers poking my eyes a bit as well. After I opened my eyes, they were SUPER DRY. So dry until it's even painful to blink. However, the nurse gave me moisturizing eyedrops afterwards and my eyes felt better soon.

The rest of the tests are quite normal, like taking pictures of my retina and checking my sugar blood level. Oh, by the way, the eyedrops that is used to numb my eyes also makes my visions a bit blurry and unfocused for several hours after.

Anyway, my ophthalmologist still needs to review my test results before proceeding with the surgery, however, the nurse said based on what she saw, my eyes have no problem at all to do lasik. So, if anything goes according plan, I will do the surgery on Tuesday, 23rd July! So excited!!!!

My retina photo, they wrote my name wrongly -__- It's CHIKKA!
Can't wait for a glasses-free life hahaha. It's not that I hate glasses, I think glasses are cute, however when they are a necessity rather than an option, they are quite a burden. I hate it when I already put make up, draw my eyes carefully, but because I wear glasses, my eye makeup also can't be seen clearly -__-

Not to mention, it's very blurry when I swim. I know they have swimming goggles with minus lenses, but still, it's not the same like swimming with healthy eyes. Also, I can't wear sunnies sob sob. Actually yes, there are sunnies with prescribed lenses, but they're pretty pricey :(

If you're wondering why I don't wear contacts, I can't. My tears level is already below normal, so wearing contacts will make my eyes even drier. Won't be comfortable at all. Sigh.

So yeah, hopefully everything goes smoothly so I can proceed with the lasik surgery! Wish me luck! <3

See you soon!

Love,

Chikka

Look At My Pretty Nails: Glittery Stars

Hi ho! On my previous nail post, I painted my nails with stars to celebrate the 4th of July. This time, I do stars design again, however I followed this tutorial by I Have A Cupcake on how to paint the stars and to outline it as well.

Glittery stars
I did this on my sister btw, so I suppose it's easier since I paint it on other people's nails hahaha x) Actually I think the outline colors are too pale :| Lesson's learned: It's much better to use darker color to do outline!

Side view
In the tutorial, I Have A Cupcake uses acrylic paint, but for this design, I fully use nail polish. I did try to use acrylic paint, and yes, it's easier to paint with it. However, I find that when you want to remove it, it's much harder than the usual polish. That's why I still prefer to use nail polish. However, I think when it comes to a more complicated design, acrylic paint might be a better option rather than nail polish.

So yeah, this is not my favorite design, to be honest :| Anyway, gotta keep learning to get better result! This looks better on real life, I don't know what's with the lighting :x

Anyway, see you soon, guys! :)

Love,

Chikka

2.5 Hours In Car For Nothing

Hello! This post will be mostly about ranting...so, here it goes >:(

I have Pilates class on Monday at 6.30 p.m., so I left my house 45 minutes before because my mum said there will be traffic jam during that time. Usually it only takes me 20 minutes to go to the gym from my house by car, so I think 45 minutes should be enough to reach the gym on time, right...

I've never been so wrong in my life...
One hour later...I'm still in the car.

Yep, no joking.

The usual 20 minutes trip has became an endless journey in Hell.

I'm still halfway to the gym, even after 1 hour plus driving. The Pilates class will end soon, and I was already so depressed and hopeless with the traffic.

Y????!!!!
My mum said even if we reached there, the class will end already, so in the end we just went back home. Me:.........

My Pilates class.... :(
It took us about another 1.5 hour to reach home. Welcome to Jakarta.

I feel so pissed because we spent 2.5 hour in car for nothing. Oh well. Lesson for the next class: must leave home before peak hour starts.

Sigh.

Anyway, here's a picture of the jam, taken from inside my car, therefore, pardon the quality.

Big trucks and containers and bunch of motorbikes.
I don't know whether you can see it from the photo, but actually there are many huge trucks and containers on that not-too-wide road. They also contribute in making the jam so bad like this. I don't know why the government let these huge vehicles to be on road during peak hour like that :x During the Soeharto era, my mum said there was a law that ruled big vehicles to only be out on the road between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.. Makes much more sense, in my opinion.

Anyway, on the car window, there was water dews from the air-con, and the shape is pretty <3

Scallop shape dews!
Can you see it? It's scallop-shaped dews! First time I saw this shape on dews hahaha. Oh well, at least there is something pretty from this journey in the Hell lol. Trying my best to be appreciative!

Anyway, I feel so bad to make my mum drove in such hell-ish traffic like this. I really need to learn driving soon!

Okay. Ranting done. Jakarta, seriously, please get your traffic jam problem done! I feel sorry for people who are fasting (It's Ramadhan month now), and because of the jam, they're late to break the fast after Adzhan. I'm not a Muslim, but I was hungry too during the jam. Can't imagine how people who are fasting feeling in the middle of jam like that!

Anyway, Happy Ramadhan for all my Muslim friends! God bless you all during this holy month :)

Happy Fasting, too :)
Okie then, see you soon!

Love,

Chikka

p.s. I think I can be an antique money collector. Find out why in here! :)

Childhood Mementos

Hello! I finally watched Despicable Me 2 yay! Been wanting to watch it for quite a while and finally watched it with my friends yesterday. The movie is so funny omg! Highly recommended :D And those little yellow guys are just too funny! Yes, Minions. I LOVE MINIONS. They are too funny and cute xD I really laughed until I cried during the Underwear scene lololol.

Anyway, I wore this when I went to the movie, and so many little kids were pointing their fingers at me xP

MINIONS!!!
They were yelling, "Minions! Minions!" while their baby-sitters were trying to calm them down hahaha! :D It's now the holiday season for schools, so the movie was full with kids. They went there with their mums, and they just look so cute! Reminds me of when I was still in primary school and my mum also brought me to watch movies during school holiday :)

So, apart from that, I went to the movie with my friends right, and one of them has an online shop for phone cases. He has this adorable kitty cat phone case, complete with the ears! It's only left one piece, so...I bought it xP #shopaholic  This is how the case looks like....

meow meow meow
I added the pink bow tie sticker to make it looks even cuter hehe x) I love it except for the yellow Japanase word on the bottom :| Planned to cover it up using sticker coz I think the font is so ugly :x So, once I'm home, I tried to find sticker inside my drawer to cover it up, but instead of sticker, I found this!
90's kids will know what is this
As a 90's kid, I remember I used to have this in several different designs x) It's a book label stickers! I'm not so sure about now, but this was so popular during my primary school era in the 90's. You stick it in front of your school notebooks to, well, let people know it's your book! And just in case you lose it, the person who found it can give you a call. (By the way that's my old address and house phone number, which are no longer active :p)

I already forgot I still have this labels hahaha. My mum ordered this from her friend, and I think it's her who chose the design. On the bottom, you can add a quote of your choice. I don't know why my mum chose "Don't Forget Me" -___- Maybe she thinks her daughter is forgettable?! xP

In the end, I use this book label to cover my phone case!

Cute right!
I love the result!!! It adds more personality to my phone :p When I showed this to my sister, she was so mean omg. She said, "Ew! Who else in this world still use this? And some more stick it onto phone case? When we're in public, please don't stand next to me if you're holding this phone!"

So mean!!! I know she's joking hahaha, but I really like how my phone looks like now xP And yeah, who else in this world still use this book label sticker, and some more stick it onto their phone cases? ME! I'm probably the only person who do this muahahaha! #antimainstream #hipster #ohyeah xP

Anyway, besides this book label stickers, I also found some other mementos from my childhood. I think now you can still find this easily in stationary store, or even in Daiso. I'm sure I saw this before in Daiso!

Foodie erasers!
Food-shaped erasers! Super cute right!!! I found three sets inside my drawers, and each have a set meal from different countries. The one above is a set from Japan, consisting of sushi, onigiri, sake and the sake cups, and....soba? The soba comes with chopstick also, how cute is that!

The next one is from French <3

Bon appétit!
The French set consists of garlic bread and onion soup (comes with a spoon!) as appetizer, steak with broccoli and tomato as the main, and red wine as the beverage! The wine is from 1943 btw :p See, this kind of details is what makes this stuff is so adorable and fun <3

Next, we have Italian!

delizioso!
From the Italian set menu, it has curly bread as appetizer, something that looks like omelette for the main? I'm not very good with Italian dishes :| It also comes with...err...tomato flakes? I don't really get this Italian menu :x Why not just put pizza or pasta with Italian soda -__- Anyway, I think the curly bread is adorable!

And the last thing I found inside my drawer is...my primary school wallet!

Milk Teddy wallet :3
I remember using this wallet throughout my primary school days hahaha! The bear character is called Milk Teddy btw. I thought the inside of the wallet must be empty, but it actually has money inside!

MONEY. YEAH.
I was so surprised to find money inside the wallet! It must have been at least 12 years since the last time I used this wallet. In total, the money worth IDR18,000 (around SGD2.50). I think that amount of money is considered quite big for a primary school kid 12 years ago, but now.......oh well, can still buy chicken noodle with that :p

But no, I won't use it! Because...those money are no longer printed anymore! Except the newer 5k, the rest are already discontinued by Bank of Indonesia. And suddenly it just hit me...

Just wait maybe....50 years from now? xP
Maybe years from now I can sell those rare bills on the Internet and become rich muahahahaha! Sounds like a plan! ;)

Anyway, these are how the rare bills look like...

IDR1,000
This is really old. I think around 15 years old? It worths around 15c I think xP

IDR5,000
Another old bill! This one worths around 60c.

The newer IDR1,000
This one is the newer version from the light blue bill. It's actually not that rare, since the government just stopped printing this bill around 2 or 3 years ago I think. But now, the bank no longer make it.

The latest IDR5,000 bill
This one is the latest version of the 5k, but it's not discontinued. So, not rare at all! But who knows later? ;p

So yeah, those are my childhood mementos from my drawer xD I actually have a stamp collection album too, but I can't find it anywhere :( Seeing these stuff makes me miss my childhood! Such a happy time, I must say :) I'm glad that I have a happy childhood hahaha. Today's children might be much more tech-savvy than me back then, but I did have a whole lot of fun too, playing with my imagination and make-believe stuff and things :D

Okie then, hope this post makes you think of your happy childhood time as well! See you soon :)

Oh, by the way, you can find how I did my nails above here :) It's 4th of July nails!

Love,

Chikka

Staycation at Parkroyal Singapore

Staycation! Yay! Finally got the time to blog about this :D

So, me and my friends had our graduation recently on 18 June 2013 at Fairmont Hotel. Actually it was only me, Gio, and Gemma's graduation, since SC and Fernnice graduated already last year. Feels so good to graduate after finishing those tiring (yet fun!) three years to get the Bachelor's Degree! It was a very fun night, since we rarely have the chance to meet all five of us in one occasion hehehe :)

One of the few photos which have all five of us xP
(l-r: Gemma, SC, Chikka, Fernnice, and Gio)
We decided to celebrate the graduation by having a one night staycation at Parkroyal Singapore on Pickering Road. SC helped us booked the hotel via Agoda.com to get better price, and we decided to get the Junior Suite, since it's the only room that have extra bed add-on.

So, on the date, I was so excited since this is the first time I have a staycation! Feel so kampong lol. I brought so many stuff considering it was only an overnight trip xP But I can't help it! Also, in my defense, I brought nail polishes and other nail art stuff because we will have a manicure night :D

Comparison of my stuff and Gemma's stuff
Gemma, Fernnice, and Gio each only brought one medium-sized bag, and SC only brought one small backpack -__- While me, I brought one small luggage and a handbag :| Anyway, that's how our room's lounge looks like, but we'll get to the room later! (It looks so nice right!!!)

By the way, I have this very cute tin lunch box from Salvation Army, and I use it to store nail polishes. I brought it there because what it says is really applicable to our holiday...

It really is.
So true, right! Anyway, this is how the hotel looks like from outside. So niceee :)

Parkroyal on Pickering <3
We were supposed to get the Junior Suite on the first place, however, when we checked in with the concierge, there was a mistake in our reservation. The hotel somehow was sold out of the Junior Suite, but they offered to upgrade our room to King Suite with no additional charge. Of course we say yes!

The King Suite is located on the 14th floor and the view is AMAZING. We were so excited when we got there because we could see Singapore from great height so clearly! We even could see the sea, even though it's very tiny hahaha. Can see our school also!!

A small portion of the view from 14th floor
Trying to look artsy lol
Besides the view, the room itself is also very nice! It's already very spacious, and yet they still place mirrors at the right place to make the room looks even bigger.

This is how the room looks like...

Please pardon my happy dance hahaha. This photo is taken candidly by our lady photographer Gemma x) The bathroom is also not disappointing at all! Everything is so neat and organized :)

The toiletries
After putting all of our stuff (and took pictures, of course xP), we went to see the swimming pool. It's located on the 5th floor, but the view is very nice also. The size of the pool is not big, but it still looks so pretty.

Pretty!
Around the pool, there are also some tents with cushions inside for us to relax and just chill.

The pretty tent!
The tents are so awesome right! The inside is a bit dirty, but it's still ok for me xP I can imagine relaxing inside, while having a nice cocktail with good Jazz playing <3

Near the pool, there is a walk path that's surrounded by plants. We took a walk there too to explore it x)

Exploring the walk path
SC and Gemma the photographer lady!
After exploring the hotel, we decided to walk to a mall next to the hotel (I think it's called Chinatown Point? Not so sure xP) to buy some food, and also because we wanted to go to Daiso hahaha. FYI, we're all Daiso lovers lol x)  From Daiso, I found this very cute tambourine from the toy section!

Summery pedicure + cute tambourine x)
I know it's useless stuff, but it looks so cute I can't help but buying it >< #impulsivebuyer But, I think in the end it became a really nice photo props hehehe xD

Playing with the tambourine :D
After playing outside, we just spent the rest of the evening at the hotel room, spending time together with the usual girl goofiness x)

Zhu Mama and Gypsi Gio xP
Lol at Gemma's face hahaha!
Love the tambourine <333
After playing around, we went to have dinner at this Thai restaurant that has a vintage western theme. The food was so-so, but as a vintage lover, I really love their decoration! The name of the restaurant is Folks Collective.
A vintage....slot machine? Not so sure what is this :| #failedvintagelover
The centre piece: An antique gramophone
After dinner, we decided to went back to hotel and have a bathtub party! Since the bathtub is big, we decided to just soak in the tub with swimwear while eating snacks and drinking beer and Breezer (or Long Island for me). Actually it was only me and Gemma who soaked in the tub since the others didn't bring their swimsuits xP

The bathtub party was actually SC's idea, since she's the creative director in our group hahaha :D And we all really enjoyed the bonding time during the bathtub party!

After the tub party, we were so tired we just prepared to go to bed. However, since I brought nail polishes, I feel that it's such a waste if I didn't do anyone's nails, so I did Gemma's nails! I didn't bring all of my nail art stuff, so I just did this simple bunny design...

Bunnies <3
I chose this design because I think Gemma really looks like bunny hahaha, she has a very fair, to-die-for skin with pinkish cheek and nose, so cute just like bunnies hehe x) Btw, I did this design half sober lol, so please pardon some crooked lines >< Sorry, Gemma! Actually I still want to do the others' nails, but I was already so tired and sleepy :| Tried to do Fernnice's but the result is $%#*@ xP Anyway, after that we just went to sleep zzzzzzzz......

The next morning, we had the buffet breakfast at the hotel restaurant called Lime. The food is so awesome omg omnomnomnom. My favorite one is....

Nutella-filled chocolate muffin!!!
The tag said that it's chocolate muffin, but it actually has Nutella filling! SO YUMMY OMG. I feel like I was in chocolate comatose when eating that hahaha. Gio and Gemma also like this muffin so much!

Honestly speaking, that was one of the best breakfast I ever had. The food varieties are wide and everything taste so yummy :D I didn't have lunch on that day because I ate so much during breakfast lol xP

Superb breakfast <3
After breakfast, we just played around at the pool and prepared our stuff because it was almost check out time boo :(

So yeah, that's basically how the staycation went! I honestly recommend this Parkroyal on Pickering Road to anyone who wants to chill and relax. The service and the place are superb, and our experience with this stay is really good :) Will definitely go back to this place someday!

Whoa, that was a long post hahaha, anyway, hope this post is useful for you who's looking for a nice staycation place in Singapore :)

Love,

Chikka
